What happens if a handyman causes damage and I am unsatisfied with his work?

Notify your contractor immediately if there is a problem with the project. It is best to take photos and write down the details. Contact your insurance company to file a claim.

What's the time taken by a handyman for a project to be completed?

It depends on the size and complexity of the project. Larger projects usually take more time to complete. A handyman can usually finish a project in one week, regardless of its size.

There are thousands, if not millions of handymen in America. However, most of them never started out as contractors. Most of them started out as a tradesman. How do you replace a broken window?

The most common home improvement task is to replace broken windows. This task involves repairing any damage to your glass. This repair will take only 30 minutes. The problem is that you might end up with further damage to your home if the glass pane breaks. This article provides some tips on replacing a broken window.

First step: Take the glass out of its frame

To take out the old glass, first remove the screws that hold it in place. Then undo the lock at the top center of the bottom section of the window frame. Next, raise the window so it isn't attached to the sillplate (the metal strip below the floor). The last step is to gently loosen all remaining screws with a tool. Clean the panes thoroughly after they are taken out.

Step 2: Clean the new glasses

You can wipe any dirt off the glass surface with a towel or a dry cloth. A spray bottle filled with water, rubbing alcohol and water can be used to clean debris stuck beneath the glass.

Third step: Reinstall the new glass

Attach the window panes to the frames. With the tip of a screwdriver, push down on the bottom edge of the outermost window pane. Gently push the pane back into the opening in the frame. Next, insert the next pane by pressing it against the first pane. Continue inserting the panes till the window is complete. You can seal the gap between the panes with a silicone caulk gun.

Fourth Step: Repair the affected area

If you are installing new glass, be sure to inspect the area where the break occurred. This will help determine if further repairs are necessary. If the break occurred near the corner of the window, install two small pieces of wood along each side of the hole. These wooden blocks will provide strength for the window, as well as acting as spacers during the expansion or contraction of the weatherproofing.

The fifth step is to seal the area.

After the glass has been replaced, apply a bead of silicone caulking to the perimeter edges of the window frame. This will create a strong seal between glass and surrounding wallboard. You can buy silicone caulking online or at hardware shops. Choose a color that matches your walls.

Finally, let the caulking cure overnight. The caulking should be left to harden completely before you disturb it. If you don't wait long enough, you could cause the caulking to crack when you remove it.
