FAQ

Is it better to pay a handyman on an hourly basis or per-project basis?

Personal preference is the most important factor. Some prefer to pay per hour so they can see the actual cost of their handyman. Some prefer to pay per completed job, as they might be working on multiple projects simultaneously. It doesn't matter which way you go, it works great.

How do I find a trustworthy handyman?

Before you hire a handyman, make sure to check their references. Ask your family and friends if they have ever used them. Look online too - there are many sites where handymen leave reviews.

Are handyman services more expensive than general contractors?

Yes! A handyman can sometimes provide a much cheaper alternative to having a general contractor complete a task. This is especially true when you've never had a contractor complete a task before. Because they have the expertise to complete certain tasks more quickly and efficiently, a handyman can speed up the project's completion.

Where are handymen from?

Although there are many handymen in the United States, almost all of them were not originally contractors. The majority of handymen started their careers as tradesmen and learned how to complete apprenticeships. They are often skilled and knowledgeable, making them valuable assets for any company.

When is the right time to hire a handyman?

There is no "right time" to hire a handyman. You should get started as soon you can. Of course, you can wait until after the holidays to save some money. However, you can always pick up your phone and call different handymen.

How often should I call a handyman?

It depends on your project. One handyman might be enough to do a basic job like changing a bulb or fixing a leak. For large-scale remodeling projects, you might need to hire several handymen.

Who will complete my handyman work?

You won't find a cheaper price for a local handyman if you're looking to have a job done quickly, such as fixing a leaky faucet or replacing a lightbulb. If you need multiple jobs, such as repairing a roof or installing new floor tiles, you might consider using a handyman service.

Handyman Services is a service that offers ongoing support such as maintenance and repair.

How do I replace a cracked window?

One of the most popular home improvement projects is to replace broken windows. The job involves repairing the damage done to the glass in your home. Repairs should take about 30 minutes in this situation. The problem is that you might end up with further damage to your home if the glass pane breaks. This article provides tips for how to replace broken windows.

Step one: Get rid of the old glass from the frame

To take out the old glass, first remove the screws that hold it in place. Next, take out the lock at top center of the window frame's bottom section. Next, lift the window upwards so it isn’t attached to sill plates (the metal bars below the floor). Next, remove any remaining screws using a pry instrument until they are loosen. After the panes are taken off, thoroughly clean them.

Second step: Clean your new glass

Use a dry towel or paper towel to clean the glass. To remove any dirt or other debris from the glass' surface, spray it with water and rub alcohol.

Step 3: Install the new glass

Reattach the window panes into the frames. Begin by gently pressing down on one end of the outermost panel with the tip a screwdriver. Gently push the pane into the opening of the frame. Then move to the next pane, pushing it firmly against the previous pane before reattaching it. Continue to insert the panes until you have assembled the whole window. Use a silicone caulk gun to seal the space where the panes meet.

Fourth Step: Repair the affected area

When installing the new glass, inspect the area around the hole to determine whether any additional repairs are needed. In the event that the hole is located near the corner of your window, place two small pieces on either side of it. These wooden blocks will strengthen the window while acting as spacers for the glass during expansion and contraction of the weatherproofing.

Fifth Step: Seal the repaired area

Apply silicone caulking around the edges of the frame after the glass has been replaced. This will create a good seal between the glass and the surrounding wallboard. Silicone caulking is available at hardware stores as well as online. Choose a color that matches your walls.

Let the caulking dry overnight. The caulking should be left to harden completely before you disturb it. If you don't wait enough, the caulking could crack when you take it off.
